A drone show is a choreographed, aerial light show that uses many individual drones fitted with high-power, color-changing LEDS working in a fleet or swarm to fill the sky with custom imagery, shapes, and animations.
Prior to showtime, our design experts choreograph the flight path of every individual drone the entire time from take off to landing. We then run the show through proprietary flight-path safety checking software to make sure our planned routes are with the technical capabilities of the drones.
On the day of the show, the drones are laid out, and their diagnostic systems checked. Once we hit go, the entire swarm takes off at once and follows the already-made flight plan autonomously.
Coming from 30+ years fireworks experience, our opinion is that nothing can replace the thump you feel in your chest from fireworks; but drones are a close second. Drones are also great for traditionally non-firework holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hannukah, Easter, etc. Want to see something truly amazing? Our fireworks + drone shows create artwork that is beyond compare.
Drone show provide an alternative to traditional night time entertainment that is quieter, more environmentally friendly and simply just different than what crowds are used to seeing.
Depending on your budget, all of our shows are 100% customizable down to the individual drone and color tone. If you’d like a custom show, our design experts will first meet with you prior to entering a contract to brainstorm ideas that fit within your budgetary constraints. The show is then storyboarded out and designed with numerous renderings and design checkups throughout the process.
The cost of a drone show is determined by the complexity of the show, the number of drones being used and the time of year of the event. Typically minimums are $10,000 and range up to $200,000. Is that outside your range? Let us know and we will try and assist however we can.
The safety are need depends on the number of drones being flown and the maximum heights they fly to. Typically we like to have at least a 350ft safety area surround the flight zone.
Typically 75 drones is the minimum we suggest for a show, any less and there is not enough drones to provide detailed, crisp imagery. While our fleet has 1,000 drones as of now, there is no maximum drone count for our shows. The more, the merrier!
When planned correctly and flown safely with the legally mandated geofencing and crowd safety boundaries in place, drones shows are extremely safe and entertaining.
The length of a drone show depends on how much the drones have to move in between and during different effects but is usually anywhere from 8-11 minutes. BUT we are one of the only companies in the industry who is able to synchronously fly two drone fleets at once though, making us capable of flying shows up to an industry best 20 minutes+ in length!
Drone shows usually start at around 50 feet off the ground and go up to 400 feet. In certain instances and with additional FAA approvals, the show can extend higher in the air.
We can fly in winds 25+ mph and light rain. Cold weather is also not a problem (we do lots of Christmas tree lightings and New Years celebrations) but extra steps are taken to make sure the drones are healthy and ready to go at show time. Prior to show time, if we are concerned with weather we may shorten the show slightly to make sure the batteries have enough energy to fight the extra conditions and still finish out the show safely.
Complexity of design and number of drones play an important role in how long it will take to design a drone show; typically we need at least two weeks lead time to prepare your show but can rush design shows in certain circumstances.
We carry $10,000,000 in general liability coverage for each event we take part in.
When Part 107 pilots have the proper FAA waivers and NOTAMS in place, drone shows are 100% legal. As an added bonus, most of our pilots also fly full-size helicopters and planes.
While some companies do fly drones indoors, we focus on outdoor shows only at the moment. Are you interested in indoor shows? Please let us know and we can connect you with our trusted partners.
Yes! Our licensed drone pilots are also great drone photographers, videographers and editors. We are glad to record the show (and your entire event) and then edit that into full length videos or social media ready snippets.
